- To answer your questions: -It is a downloaded copy of Mandrake 8.0 -There are no error messages of any sort, the cursor blinks after the line "now installing", just after the traktopel says line. -LILO doesn't have the chance to boot, i can't even install the OS. -I'd search google for the error messages if i could, but there are none. -I've tried the Text install, and had the exact same problem. I do not believe it to be a video card issue anymore. -The motherboard is a MSI 6340M -I'm currently downloading 8.1 in hopes it will work. -I've tried installing Linux Redhat 7.1 and had a similar problem. The original message is included below this. Thank you in advance. *************** I`m having trouble installing v8.0 on my 800MHz Duron. It has 512mgs RAM, onboard video(Pro Savage)/audio and a standard d-link 530TX NIC. The KM 133 chipset i think, and previously had windows 2000(NTFS) installed. Although i Fdisked that as well as the MBR so it should not be a factor. When i put the CD in to install the process stops after the line - "Now installing..." The problem is no longer my video card i figure. (I tried a text install, and the install bottomed out at the same spot) I'm currently booting from one of the alternative kernels found on the CD because it is able to get me the farthest into the install. I've also tried disabling onboard sound on the mobo as well as killing the PnP OS feature in the bios. This is starting to drive me up the wall.

- well the problem with the downloaded copies when you download mandrake moke
sure you download it in binary form most webbrowsers do not use binary form
and it will corrupt the download. if you downloaded mandrake do not use a
webbrowser and make sure that any download software you use supports binary
downloads and that the option is enabled in the softwares options

- I don't believe that the image was corrupted during download. I say this because i've installed from this CD before on another system and its working fine.

- To let everyone know, the cause of this disaster was the Savage Pro video card that was built into the mobo. ($35CDN for a Sirrus Logic AGP replacement) I hope if anyone in the future has the same problem you can help them :)
Thanks
