- Hi,
I'm a newbie, so my question might be a trivial one, but please I would be happy to get some assistant...
I've installed the free Mandriva 2006 and marked the FTP option on the installtion.
What FTP server is provided with this release?
How can I start the FTP server and configure it?
Where can I find documentation about it?
Thanks, David.

- IIRC, the FTP server was removed from the download edition, but since they all use the same
installed, the FTP Server option is still there. The full powerpack installs 'proftpd', but you
can still download and install it (allow with proftpd-anonymous, if you want anonymous ftp)
from any Mandriva mirror.
ie:
ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/distributions/Mandriva/official/2006.0/i586/media/main/proftpd-1.2.10-13mdk.i586.rpm
ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/distributions/Mandriva/official/2006.0/i586/media/main/proftpd-anonymous-1.2.10-13mdk.i586.rpm
As a note, using http://easyurpmi.zarb.org to add online repositories would give you access to
any software that was not included on the CDs (usually due to space issues).
If I have misread you issue, and you have the PowerPack, you should be able to start the FTP
server with '/etc/rc.d/init.d/proftpd start'. You can configure it with '/etc/proftpd.conf'
----------
Note: If this answer resolves your problem, please remember to close this incident.
