- the Limited edition 2005 tar command does not exclude the files specified in --exclude option
The same command works fine in 10.1 version

- Appears to work fine here:
$ ls testing
not1 not2 not3 not4 test1 test2 test3 test4
$ tar -cvvf testing.tar --exclude=not* testing
0 2005-09-19 13:13:37 testing/
0 2005-09-19 13:13:24 testing/test1
0 2005-09-19 13:13:25 testing/test2
0 2005-09-19 13:13:26 testing/test3

- Ok, with this syntax it is working.
The problem was with the OLD (?) syntax where we do not need to put the equal sign for the itens that will be excluded.
for instance, all my scripts (before Limited edition 2005) used something like this:
ARQ=somefile.tar.bz2
tar jpPlcvf $ARQ / --exclude $ARQ
I'll change it.
thanks.
