-   Install the gcc RPM, and while your at it, make and automake.

And is there a reason you are compiling the program? Is it not available as an RPM?

-   Hello,

Please give us more information about your request. What do you install? Which Software?

So you must install all developments packages with rpmdrake (Mandrake Control Center)

-   Hello,

You must install the gcc pakages.
gcc
gcc-development
and any other gcc package you might need.
after also install
automake
autoconf

these packages are needed to build from source or to build files using the source tar.gz versions

after all the dependencies are met you may then instalkl xine.

Best regards,

The technical support team.
Mandrakesoft.
