jjmacjj : 03/12/04 11:37 AM : Incident created |
- I use Mandrake 9.2 for all of my computing needs on my stand alone desktop machine. Every 12 months or so I purchase an updated version, normally waiting for the .2 to be finalised (next update will be 10.2 powerpac).
I have never bothered with downloading the patches that MandrakeSoft let me know are available. They seem to me to be mainly concerned with servers and networks and other things that don't apply to my situation. Also, having only a dial-up internet connection, the whole thing would be very slow as well as tie up my phone line.
Am I being foolish by not downloading the updates? I have had no problems so far. Are there updates that are an advantage for stand-alones that I should install?
Thanks

- If you are running any of the applications (or have them installed, but are
not running them) that security or update packages are provided for, you
should update.
The only time you need not worry is if you do not have them installed.
