jhzkongo : 21/11/04 05:12 PM : Incident created
-   when trying to install rpms, I get a message "Urpmi database locked"
I've been through the documents, and can find nothing about it except that it is an error (I knew that!)

How do I unlock?

-   - Make sure you are root when trying to install
- Check to see if 'urpmi' is running anywhere
# ps axf|grep urpmi
- Check to see if 'rpm' is running anywhere
# ps axf|grep rpm
- Kill the rpm or urpmi processes (kill -9 {pid}) or close the apps that have launced either.

If none of these solve it, your last two options are:

- reboot
- Clear out the tmp files:

# cd /var/lib/rpm
# rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*
# rpm -vv --rebuilddb

jhzkongo : 22/11/04 07:08 AM : More info provided
-   You are right; there were several defunct urpmi processes running. Killing them solved the problem.

Thanks!
