dmail : 16/10/04 07:12 PM : Incident created
-   I am have installed Mandrake v 10.0 on a virtual machine using VMware Workstation v4.5.2. I am now trying to install the vmware tools and the following is the problem:

Trying to find a suitable vmhgfs module for your running kernel.

None of the pre-built vmgfs modules for the VMware Tools is suitable for your
running kernel. Do you want this program to try to build the vmhgfs module for
your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)? [yes]

using complier "/usr/bin/gcc". Use environment variable CC to override.

What is the locatin of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/scr/linux/include]

The path "/usr/src/linux/include" is not an existing directory

vmware wants the header files for the linux kernel 2.6.3-7mdk, which it exspects to find in /usr/src/linux/include. The header files are not there but i have the kernel source on the thrird installation disc:
kernel-source-2.63-7mdk.i586.rpm

How do I get the source files which are on the cd into the /usr/src/linux/include directory?
I am new to linux and my comand knowledge is poor, so any links to the info or some steps would be appriacted.
Thanks.
