-   I installed Mandrake Linux 9.2 on my laptop with the "no apic" command. Otherwise it won't install. What is apic? Do i miss something essential?

-   i hope i'm not confusing myself with acpi...The reason i tried "no apic" is that the installation halts at: initialising eth0: or something like that. anyway.. thanks in advance.

-   (APIC) A Programmable Interrupt Controller (PIC) that can handle interrupts from and
for multiple CPUs, and, usually, has more available interrupt lines that a typical PIC. So
unless you have a multiprocessor laptop, you're not missing out on anything.
