- I am now unable to use software manager due to it freezing up when launched.
Re-booting has not helped
I was trying to configure a source for security updates at ftp.stealth.net.
I closed setup manager. Later I launched the software manager.
It analyzed previously defined sources for updates but froze at ftp.steaqlth.net (26%, it always freezes at 26%).
I would like to get this working again but can't find any .conf files which I might modify to remove the ftp site.
I do have my system backed up to cd and might get the needed file(s) from there (if I knew what I am looking for).
Maybe there is a simpler way?
Thanks for your solutions.

- The configuration file is '/etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg'. You might also want to check the other files in '/etc/urpmi/'

- I have checked the files in etc/urpmi/ (there are 2).
Neither show any reference to the FTP site.
Software Manager still hangs on launching (analyzing ftp.stealth.net @ 26% complete).
HELP!

- You might try backing up and deleting the files in '/var/lib/urpmi'

- I was fortunate enough to get a reply from usenet on this issue.
Typing in urpmi.removemedia gives a list of the sources available for software manager (update).
typing urpmi.removemedia ftp.site.name removes the reference to the site, allowing software manager to funtion again.
However... it seems impossible to get a working security update in the manner described on the mandarke website demo pages. It seems to me that info like LOGIN and PASSWORD are not covered in the web pages, and if they are left out the problem manifests. If they are used (Login:anonymous, password:guest) the new source is not added.
Software manager seems incapable of working properly in this regard.
Thanks for your time and effort.

- Try 'anonymous' and '[email protected]' (an e-mail address is sometimes required for anonymous access to servers).
