- I want to make an audio server with Icecast and Ices.
I've just downloaded the software from a Mandrake mirror.
But I'm not able to syncronize the server with the client program.
May you help me to find a correct configuration?

- If you attached your icecast and ices configurations, I may be able to
determine what is wrong. You may also want to look at the icecast and ices
error logs.

- Not sure if you got my reply e-mail, but it would appear that your ices.conf
and icecast.xml passwords are different.

- Yes, I've an authentication problem, but no simply due to the password.

- The mount name in icecast.xml on line 73:
<mount-name>/example-complex.ogg</mount-name>
is not the same as the mount you are attempting to pass through ices.conf, on line 42:
<Mountpoint>ices</Mountpoint>
As well, you have set a username of 'othersource' -
<username>othersource</username> in icecast.xml
I would recommend following the directions in at line 70 of icecast.xml, and comment
that section out. If you really want to use it, use the username 'source', since that is
the only one that ices.conf will pass to icecast (read line 16)

- Thank you for your help, but I' ve no good result anymore.
The ices client cannot load the mountpoint.
I've observed, on http://localhost:8000/admin, that icecast doesn't create any mountpoint.
I don't understand also the error log, in /var/log/icecast/error.log:
Source logging in at mountpoint "/"
Infact the mountpoint requested by /etc/ices.conf is:
<Mountpoint>/example-complex.ogg</Mountpoint>
May you please send me a working example of a basic configuration?

- Unlikely, nothing works on my system.
The problem is that I don't understand a lot of important concepts, such as <playlist>, <url>, and so on.
Anyway, I think your answer is good for my first question, of this incident.
Now, I' don't know the rules of this forum.
