bdika : 01/01/04 07:56 PM : Incident created
-   I am trying to install Abi Word from tar but I get the following error messsage when I run ./configure:

checking for
gtk -2.0 >= 2.0
libglade-2.0 >= 2.0.0
... Package gtk -2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtk -2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'gtk -2.0' found
configure: error:

I have rpm installed everything that a search for this package has suggested but it is still not on my machine (at least I can't find it with a find files search).

Can anyone help me get gtk -2.0.pc on my Mandrake 9.2 machine?

Many thanks.

Regards,
Bill Dika

-   Why don't you just install the abiword RPM?

# su
# urpmi abiword

Or get it from
http://rpmfind.net//linux/RPM/mandrake/9.2/contrib/i586/abiword-2.0.0-1mdk.i586.html

And as a note, it is most likely looking for libgtk 2.0_0-devel

-   Thanks Linegod.

I didn't want to use the Mandrake rpm because I wanted some import/export filters that were not available for Mandrake. Namely pdf and pdb (palm os).

These were supposed to be available in the tar file but when I finally got ./configure to work (it required installing a number of devel rpms) and installed the package the filters were not there anyway. So I installed KOffice instead. KWord has the import and export filters that I was looking for. Everything is fine now.

Thanks again Linegod.

Bill Dika
