- Hi I've just installed 8.1 on my Clevo 2700c laptop and most things work fine but I can't get the soundcard to work. It's a SiS PCI Audio Accelerator (rev 02) 16bit full duplex - 3D Sound - Soundblaster Pro compatible. Harddrake identifies it as
Vendor: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS]
Model: SiS PCI Audio Accelerator
Kernel Module: snd-card-trident
Bus Type: PCI
But no sound comes out at all, not even during the test in the harddrake config tool. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated (I already checked www.linux-laptops.net with no luck)!
Thanks,
Dean

- Could you check the mixer level (K/Multimedia/Sound/Sound Mixer) and if that isn't the problem, try running 'sndconfig' from a console as root, and then
check the mixer level.

- Checked mixer but no slider...then checked Aumix and put all sliders up then ran sndconfig... reported chip as SiS 7018 ... reported it as 'not supported yet' ... Any other suggestions?
Thanks for your help,
Dean

- Unfortunately, 'not supported yet' usually means exactly that.
You might try a development kernel, but there is no guarantee that it would work, or that it wouldn't cause more problems.
