Linegod_7611 : 02/11/03 08:15 AM : Reply received -   Is the server running? # /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysql status If it isn't, do: # /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysql restart And as a side note, if you are connecting to localhost, you don't have to use '-h hostname'. As a second note, by default, MySQL does not have a root password, so don't use the '-p' and then set a root password as soon as possible: http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Security.html ------------- Note: If this answer resolves your problem, please remember to close this incident.
calban_6502 : 04/11/03 12:41 AM : More info provided -   Tried your comments but they didn't work. Same error returned. I also set the mysql password to something I knew and that didn't work either. I also set the current user to the mysql group and the mysql group to the user and that doesn't work either. Most frustrating Bob
