-   I need to enable exif for use with php. I'm somewhat new to everything and have no idea how to do it. I have done it before on windows machine by editing the php.ini file, but I have no idea how to do it on my mandrake 9.1 system.

-   Install php-ini and php-exif (both can be found on http://rpmfind.net). As a general rule, the
majority of modules are availlable as Mandrake packages - php-whatever

-   Well, the problem was that I didn't have php-exif installed. I thought I did. Anyway I went to rpmfind, installed it, and made sure the extension was getting executed - (exif.so). Also, I didn't have the default extension directory setup in the php.ini file. After that, it seemed to work out fine. Rookie mistake!
