- I am trying to install 9.1 on my box as a dual boot with WinXP Pro. It currently has two 40gb drives striped with NTFS on approx 60gbs of the drives. There is also a 15gb Fat32 partition at the end of the drive. I use BootMagic and PartitionMagic. I partitioned a 4.5gb ext2 partition after the NTFS partition, and a 500mb swap partition just after that. When I go to install, I get errors for hde and hdg, linux cant read the drives they are too corrupted. DrakX can wipe the drives clean and you will lose all partitions. Do you agree to lose all partitions? YES/NO????? What am I doing wrong? Any hints/help? Any way I can save WinXP and still have my Linux without using another HD? Thanks for any help guys!!!!

- Don't format the drives with ext2 from Partition Magic. Simply create empty space, and let
Mandrake create the partitions and format them.

- No Go :-( I tried it with just an unpartitioned space. This is the error it keeps giving me. "I cant read the partition table of device hde, its too corrupted for me :( I can try to go on, erasing over bad partitions (all data will be lost). The other solution is to not allow drakX to modify the partition table. (The error is extended partition: reading of partition in sector 112647780 failed). Do you agree to lose all partitions?" It also gives me the error for hdg (the other drive in the striped array) the error is unkown partition table format on disk /dev/hdg.
thanks again for any help...

- The only time I ran into this error was when attempting to setup a system that had
not been defragged first. If defragging doesn't work, I'm not sure what to try next.

- Most experts don't look at a question once it has been picked up by another
expert. Your best bet is to close this question and resubmit it with the fact that
you have defragged and tried installing against unpartitioned space.
