- Hello, I have a server with sendmail and works fine, except that has open relay. How do I fix it to make smtp after pop authentication? Thanks.

- Here is a good resource for closing sendmail from spammers:
http://www.mail-abuse.org/tsi/ar-fix.html
I would, however, simply recommend using Postfix instead (the default mail
server for Mandrake).

- Thanks, but I don't understand postfix and I have to solve the problem quickly. Perhaps in the future I will change sendmail with postfix, but first I have to learn how to configure postfix.
I read about popauthd, and I'm going to try it. Do I have to change anything in sendmail to use popauthd?
Thanks.

- IIRC, you shouldn't have to adjust sendmail.

- Thanks, if I have the option promiscuous relay, should I close sendmail to stop being an open relay?

- I have configured popauthd. How can I test if my server is still an open relay? Thanks.

- The best way would be to use the 'Test open relay' option at
http://www.ordb.org/ . They also provide links to alot of other info on
closing and securing mail servers.
