- After updating to the latest kernel from the update site, I am getting a "EBDA too big" error message after the lilo prompt. Choosing Linux or failsafe gives the same error.
Any idea on how to get my system back up?
Thank you,
HB

- Boot with the CD and hit F1 and type 'rescue'. Follow the 'chroot' instructions, and
then run '/sbin/lilo'.

- This is an old computer and cannot boot from CD. I booted with the diskette and tried running the /sbin/lilo but I got could not find /boot/vmlinuz file. The file is there and is a simlink to the kernel file.
Any other ideas?
Thank you for the prompt response.

- Did you chroot /mnt? And can you verify that it is pointing to the correct kernel version?
Do you have a Linux boot disk (created during install)? If you do, you should be able to use it to boot, and then run '/sbin/lilo'.
You might also try booting with your rescue floppy, and then create a boot disk with 'mkbootdisk'.
Type 'mkbootdisk --help' for directions.

- The only way I found to make this work was to reinstall the original kernel package on the CD with the --oldpackage switch and then run /sbin/lilo and th emachine booted again.
