- I installed Mandrake 9.1 beta, everything went great. I forgot to install C compilers so I did a re-install. Now I have no internet connection. I can still see the other puters on my home network but, no internet? Help please?!

- Try reconfiguring your network connection, you may have left out your gateway.
Then try disabling the firwall. If that doesn't work, give the output of:
# ifconfig
# cat /etc/sysconfig/network
And as a side note, you did not have to reinstall, you can simply run
'K/Configuration/Mandrake Control Center/Software Manager/RPMDrake' and
install any software, at any time.

- Edit /etc/sysconfig/network and change:
GATEWAYDEV=""
to
GATEWAYDEV="eth0"
Then, restart your network with:
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart
Then, try:
# ping -c 5 192.168.8.1
# ping -c 5 {Internet Gateway IP}
# ping -c 5 {DNS Server IP}
Post the results if it does not work.
