gmix problem

stevenmiller : 29/11/01 04:53 AM : Incident created -   I just upgraded to 8.1 from 8.0 and gmix no longer works. For some reason /dev/mixer is missing. Can someone tell me what the major and minor numbers are so I can do a mknod? Or is something else going on here? Thanks, Steve
Linegod_7611 : 29/11/01 11:21 AM : Reply received -   It should now be located at '/dev/sound/mixer'. You may want to rerun 'harddrake' or 'sndconfig' to reconfigure your sound card.
stevenmiller : 30/11/01 02:31 AM : Incident closed -   The version of gmix in Mandrake 8.1 still expected its device node in /dev. For some reason, in this release, Mandrake has removed this and placed it under /dev/sound. Better testing would have caught this.
