chadahoochie : 08/01/03 06:24 PM : Incident created
-   Having trouble turning on DMA for my DVD-ROM. Using hdparm it tries to enable but then says operation not permitted. Can anyone tell me how to do this without recompiling the kernel?

Linegod_7611 : 08/01/03 07:51 PM : Reply received
-   In '/etc/modules.conf', put in the following line:

options ide-cd dma=1

-   I had already entered
options ide-cdrom dma=1
in modules.conf before I used hdparm, and still didn't work.
Any other ideas.

-   This may be a problem with the kernel that is shipped. I'm trying to determine
if it is fixed in the newest kernel. Once I know, I'll get back to you.
