- I have installed Apache. I can find the webpage on my computer (URL: http://localhost from a web browser in my computer). However, I cannot opent the webpage from another computer (http://IP address) from another computer. I did not change anything from the httpd.conf. What is the problem? When I check with ps -aux | grep apache, it is running. I have also tried /etc.rc.d/init.d/httpd restart, it is the same>

- Do you have the firewall running in Mandrake?
If so, have you allowed web access to you box? 'K/Configuration/Mandrake
Control Center/Security' or run 'drakfirewall' from a console as root, and select
'Web'.
If not, run 'tail -f /var/log/httpd/access_log /var/log/httpd/error_log' while
attempting to access your webserver from an external host, and post the
output.

- Run 'tail -f /var/log/messages' on your Linux box, and try to access the page
from your Windows box. If it is blocking it, it should appear in the log.

- i am using a network in a large organization. How can I checked whether it is blocked by firewall or not? Also, I can access the windows via the linneighborhood. Is there any method to access the linux apache server?
Also, the network in my organization is using proxy server and the port is 8080. Is it necessary to change the httpd.conf? I found that I cannot access the ftp site by gftp. Is it due to the firewall?

- It is most likely due to your corporate firewall. You should check with your
system administrator to see if port 80 and port 21 are being blocked.
