http://support.real-time.com/open-source/spamassassin/kmail.html for setting
up KMail and spamassassin.

- Spamassassin was originally designed to work with a mail server, but it has
some extensions now. Go to http://spamassassin.org/where.html and look for
"ImapAssassin" and "Pop3Proxy".

- Hello,
i have looked the site spamassassin.org/where and read the imap and pop3 page. for as i am a complete newbie with linux i can say that this is too difficult for me to set this up. i hope that perhaps in a new mandrake distro a kind of spamprogram could be add which installed all programms automatically in the right directories and whith a click on a icon you could make active.......anyway thanks for all the help.
kind greetings,
Willem

- Spamassassin was originally designed by technical people for technical
people. I suspect that soon there will be an interface for configuring
spamassassin, but with 9.0 there is not one.
When it wants you to edit files, you will probably have to be logged in as
root to do it. Make sure to doublecheck yourself anytime you are logged in
as root because there are *NO* security restrictions on root. Your Linux
operating system will quite happily destroy itself if that's what you tell
it to do when you are root.

- Instead of installing sendmail, just install postfix. 'urpmi postfix' will install it. (Chances are that it is
already installed.) The reason that it needs postfix or sendmail is because of the way fetchmail
works.
1) It connects to the POP or IMAP server.
2) Gets the message list.
3) Downloads the first message in the list.
4) Hands the message to postfix.
5) Postfix sees it's to the local user so hands it off to procmail.
6) Procmail delivers it locally.
7) If there are still messages in the list, go back to step 3.
8) Close the connection.
For a decent bit of info about using fetchmail and procmail, check out this tutorial:
http://www.cerritoslug.org/tutorials/mutt.html
It will have a lot of things that don't apply to you (mostly regarding the mail client mutt), but the
fetchmail section might help.

- Ok, replying to this just to get it out of the "Needs attention" queue. No
need to reply on your part until you come up with another issue.
