-   I was told that included in the purchase of the 8.0 Pro-Suite edition which I have that it includes 2 free upgrades. I was wondering how I get the upgrade to Pro-Suite 8.1.
We have Purchased a new server (see hardware profile) to host our webpage, and email at www.abtllc.com and would like to set it up with the latest software.

-   Hello,

Thank you for using MandrakeSoft Professional Services technical support.

You are indeed entitled to get two free upgrade cdroms during the product life
time.
They will include all security upgrading files related to the Mandrake 8.0 version.
If you want to upgrade to Mandrake 8.1 version consider a new installation instead
of an upgrading. We need to have more feedback and history files about the
upgrading to the latest version. Fresh installed systems are working super.
The installation and configuration wizards have been improved all over again.

You can always purchase a new pack and benefit from the related support.

Ps. Consider even to get professional support at our "business" department.
They can provide you at low yearly cost various consulting offers.

Do not hesitate to contact us if interested.

-   What would be the costs of upgrading my 8.0 prosuite to 8.1?

How somooth have upgrades gone versus clean installs of 8.1?

-   Would you please send the latest security fix / update cd(s) for the 8.0

-   Hello,

most upgrades go well except in a few situations where package configuration layouts have changed. Most configurations go rather smoothly but it is always recommended to do a clean install as all packages will function out of the box with no special tweeking if things go wrong.

Best regards,

The technical support team.

-   when using the software manager to accomplish security updates via ftp, the list of updateable packages have 4 or 5 different style icons beside them, one like three exclamation points, another kinda looks like a turky... lol..

I whas wondering what these different icons mean, or where i can find out what they mean?

MandrakeSoft : 04/12/01 01:55 PM : Reply received
-   Hello,
This icons are related to the urgency degree of updating. If you
still are in doubt and your distribution still works, keep it as such.

Best regards,

-   i take it the three exclimations means pretty important. But to what degree of criticallity do the other symbols/icons represent?
Is there a web page that describes these?

-   Hello,

There is an option to view only security related packages for upgrade these are the recommended upgrades for your system. At the moment im not sure if there is such documentation i believe if there is any documentation it is included with the boxed set you have purchased.

Like i said if you feel you must upgrade the system then please only upgrade with the security release packages. And do not upgrade kernel packages. Also I must warn you that we support only the packages that are needed for the install in other words any packages you install from the net or 3rd party cd's and son will not be supported under the free install support.

Best regards,

The technical support team.

-   Still curious to find the location on (the web) that describes the three or four different icons used beside the security updates listed in the software manager.

Thanks for the feedback though ;)
