- When I browse to my Linux machine from Windows, I get a connect as box asking for a user and password. I've tried entering my personal user and password, and root as a user and his password, but it doesn't take. What's going on? Thanks.

- Yes, as far as I know. If the service is called smb, then yes it is. And here is one section that I have down near the bottom of the smb.conf file:
[public]
path = /usr/somewhere/else/public
public = yes
only guest = yes
writable = yes
printable = no
browseable = yes

- Try using 'K/Control Panel/Network/LAN Browsing' to configure it then.
