- Hi,
it seems I have the wrong kernel there!
I need the one which does pcmcia. I located it on the cdrom.
Where can I find the information to switch kernels?
(I read somewhere we can not use the rpm command to do that is it true?)
Regards,
MArc

- Actually, you want to use the 'rpm' command, and not Software Manager:
# rpm -ivh kernel-2.x.x.rpm (replace with kernel name)
This will install the new kernel, and add another option to your boot. Reboot the system, and select the new kernel. If all goes well,
you can uninstall the old kernel.
# rpm -e kernel-2.x.x-xmdk (you must specify the whole name of the kernel you want to uninstall)

- Hello,
You can find the informations on your reference manuel of Mandrake Linux.
Or on the following web site:
www.linuxdoc.org
You can use:
rpm -Uvh <name of kernel> but it is a general kernel
Be careful when you install your new kernel don't erase your old kernel.
in /boot you must have the link for the new and the old kernel.
And after lilo can give you the choice.
But the install of new kernel is currently not included in our list of free provided support
Be sure that you do not have another problem.
Best regards
