-   I use KDE. When I bring up kmix to adjust levels the window is completely blank. I can adjust the levels with Aumix but kmix allows an icon on the tasktray which I like better. This is a brand new install.

-   Try running 'harddrake' from a command line and reconfiguring your soundcard. If
this does not help, give the make/model of your soundcard and the output of 'cat
/etc/modules.conf'

-   I found that /dev/mixer is missing. I found /dev/sound/mixer and tried to create a symbolic link. It works until I reboot the system. The link disappers. I think it has to do with ext3 file format. I tried the harddrake from the command line. It does give me audio but shows no mixer.

-   Incident was not resolved. Will try other avenues.
