-   I have installed Xfree4.1.1 with Mandrake 9. However I am having problems with the configuration, more specifically xmessage.

a) Can I quickly revert to FreeX3.X? (The Dolphin package manager suggested I would have to reinstall many packages)

b) How and or where may I find the config utilities for FreeX4.X?

-   What is your problem with xmessage?

And the quickest way to switch between XFree86 4.x.x and XFree 3.x is to drop to a
console (CTRL-ALT-F1, then log in as root and type 'init 3') then move the 'XF86Config*'
files out of '/etc/X11' to a safe place (ie: your home directory). Then run the Mandrake X
Configuration tool - 'XFdrake' (case sensitive).

This will let you select 3.3.6. It will install some files off of the CDs or the internet if you
have it setup to do so.

-   The explanation and instructions where clear. However, It took me several attempts to realise that the configuration of Xserver was linked to the video. Nonetheless, the instructions where clear enough for me to figure it out without too much frustration. All help is gratefully accepted. Thank you, Linegod
