- I would like to be able to name logical volumes in the installer, instead of them being named 1,2,3 etc.

- There is no way to 'name' logical volumes, as it really doesn't matter what
they are numbered, you assigned them names with mount ie: /dev/hda6 might
be called /usr .
Once the drive has been assigned a name, you never really reference it
again, unless you are going to unmount it via command line, or run tests on
it, via command line.

- OK, maybe I should clarify my situation a bit.
I like naming my lvols after the filesystem I plan to mount to it - makes it easy to remember which is which, makes fstab easier to read, e.g.:
/dev/anduril/iso /iso reiserfs defaults 1 2
Where "/dev/anduril/iso" is an lvol name.
When I create the lvols in the installer (kudos, btw, to l-m for supporting this, the only other distro I know for sure does is SuSE), I have no control over the volume name - as I create each new one, it creates
/dev/anduril/1
/dev/anduril/2
/dev/anduril/3
And so on. Which I then lvrename to the names I want them to have.
I would consider it a good thing if the installer gave me a place to name my logical volumes at install time.

- Ah... I apologize for assuming that you where misusing the term 'logical
volumes' (I am quite use to dealing with newbies here :)). The best way to
get a change to the install process like this done, is to sign up to the
'cooker' mailing list - http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/flists.php3 , and
make the suggestion there, as the majority of 'experts' on this list have no
control over the distribution itself, and are just a collection of
volunteers.

- Perhaps it would not be unreasonable that if someone is asking about "logical volumes", he means logical volumes as in LVM...still, I understand that most of the tech support here is fairly entry-level.
