HddHakker : 18/11/01 08:10 PM : Incident created |
- I have successfully installed ML 8.1. I am impressed!
I have one issue with the Mandrake sys config tool. When I click on "Mount Points", I get a timeout error.
So, I attempted to run diskdrake from the command line with the following resulting message:
[root@localhost root]# diskdrake
modprobe: Can't locate module floppy
modprobe: Can't locate module ide-floppy
insmod'ing module ide-floppy failed at /usr/lib/libDrakX/modules.pm line 532.
[root@localhost root]
Any ideas?
Thanks

- Look for a setting in your BIOS called 'Swap A/B on Floppy' and enable it,
and see if that resolves the problem.

- I have only one real floppy drive. The other drive is a LS 120.
I did try the "Floppy swap" to no avail. I am up against a brick
wall on this one at the moment...

- Could you try disconnecting the LS120, and see if it responds without it
installed?

- I disconnected the LS120 and now diskdrake will run. I still get the message
modprobe: Can't locate module floppy
but diskdrake seems to work ok.
Any ideas what is going on? I am curious... :-)
