defox94085 : 13/10/02 06:49 AM : Incident created |
- I just installed 9.0 after a 8.1 install and
once I got 9.0 installed, postfix is not working correctly. It was working before, and as a precaution, I had saved my existing postfix configuration in /etc.
I seem to be able to send mail out but can't receive mail. In the logs, it says that various connections are coming in, but
then it throttles because it can't connect to one or more of the subprocesses like
public/cleanup.
I've played with the main.cf file some and
can attach it if needed in a separate message.
Please direct replies to [email protected].

- There should be a new master.cf file, called master.cf.rpmnew, which needs to
replace master.cf. Do:
# cd /etc/postfix
# mv master.cf master.cf.old
# mv master.cf.rpmnew master.cf
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/postfix restart

- Well, there wasn't any *rpmnew files to be found. I have
hand edited main.cf a few times, but not master.cf.
If I add my current main.cf and master.cf files you might
see what may be wrong with my configuration. As I recall,
postfix requires virtually no configuration and this worked
up until 9.0...

- Thanks - it seems to be all fixed now.
I didn't alter the master.cf file. What I did notice is a
commented inet_interfaces bit - this was set to localhost, so
apparently mail from the outside couldn't get through. My POP
mail was deliverable via localhost (fetchmail) so that got through
OK. Once I put the change in, I restarted postfix and some mail
destined for the DSL address came through.
Now I just have to resubscribe to all my mailing lists :( - apparently
they might have shut me off because of all this downtime.
