ccollins123 : 09/10/02 12:51 AM : Incident created |
- Hello everyone,
Is there a utility I can use under Linux to compile Perl programs into executables that can be run without Perl installed?
Thanks,
C. Collins

- Install the perl-devel RPM, and then do 'man perlcc'. It should give you all the info
you need on how to create perl executables.

- Linegod,
I seem to have a perlcc manpage, but when I type perlcc, I get "bad command". I looked for the perl-devel rpm in the /Mandrake/RPMS directory on my linux CD but couldn't find it. Any suggestions?
Thanks, C. Collins

- Try doing a search for perl-devel at http://rpmfind.net , and grab the matching
Mandrake version (determine your perl version with 'rpm -q perl' )

- Linegod,
I found some perl-devel RPMs on rpmfind.net, but I couldn't find any for i686. Is it all right to download one for i586?
Thanks,
C. Collins

- Yes. All of the Mandrake RPMs are i586. All that means is that they where
compiled on a i586, and will work with i586 or above (not below - ie i486)
