- Hello!
Which command has replace hdparm in the 8.2? this was a good program to switch on/off the HDD and to change of DMA/PIO modes.
Francais:
Quel utilitaire a remplacé hdparm dans la mandrake 8.2? c'était un bon program pour allumer/éteindre un HDD et pour changer de modes (DAM/PIO)

- None. Double-check that you have the 'hdparm' rpm installed:
# rpm -qa|grep hdparm
If nothing is returned, you don't have hdparm installed.
Also, hdparm is not in the default path for users (it's in /sbin/) so either
switch to root, or run '/sbin/hdparm'.

But how to install it?
If I do :
# urpmi hdparm
It install the powertweak-0.99.4-3mdk rmp. And this rmp dosen't contain hdparm (even if I log as root)

- That's weird. You may want to just manually download it from
http://rpmfind.net , and do:
# rpm -Uvh hdparm*
There should be no dependancies on hdparm.
