-   Hi ! Is it REALLY safe to recompile a 2.4.8
kernel (Mandrake) with Duron optimization ?

-   What, exactly, are you looking for when you say 'REALLY safe'?

catarina! : 15/11/01 06:57 AM : More info provided
-   Well, I know, nothing is really secure (dealing with computers or other stuff)
but, in recent months, I didn't manage to recompile the kernel with ML 8.0
(hello kernel panic !): the problem may be Duron optimization... ?
On my old machine with RedHat, 6.x kernel compilations performed flawlessly...Is Duron buggy ?
And, yes, I read the F*** M**** !

-   I don't believe there should be a problem compiling for the Duron, but you
may want to use one of the kernels from 'cooker', the latest is 2.4.13-7mdk
. http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/cookerdevel.php3
