- How to get a dual boot install with win 98? I tried once, dividing my 20GB drive into multiple logical drives, then chose the last 3 drives for Linux install. Linux installed fine, but on reboot, was only given the option to boot to linux, no win98. I now have my 20GB drive as FAT 32, but have added 2 smaller drives ( 1.7 1.2 GB ) ( on a pci ide controller card ) which I would like to install to. But I have to know if I will be able to get a dual boot configuration? Thanks, Bill.

- On the two smaller drives, delete all partitions from them, and leave them
empty. When you install Linux it should add Windows to the boot options, as
long as you are using Mandrake 8.0 or 8.1

- Ok, thanks for the response. My question now is, why didn't it give me a dual boot option the first time? Do you have to install the root to the same drive as windows is booting from?

- It should have. When you installed Linux, could you see the Windows
partion during the hard drive setup?
Even if you couldn't, you could add the Windows partition to your boot
sequence by running 'drakboot' as root.

- Linegod- Thanks for your help. I was able to install and get a dual boot configuration. Tho it would NOT install to either of the smaller drives running on the pci-ide controller. I just resized my win 98 partition. The install went as smooth as could be until it got to the video card. Which is ironic, as this went smoothly the first time around. I have to resort to the ' unlisted card' option, then FBDev. That was fine, it was accepted, but then asked me to change my resolution, but did not give me an option to go back. So now I can log in, but do not know the command line to access the area to change my resolution, etc...any help would be greatly appreciated.
All i ahve is text display.

- Linegod & Dakota were both very helpful to me in my first experience with Mandrake Linux. I would feel comfortable asking either a question in the future, and I'm sure I will.
