I do have a programming background but only in HTML, CSS and Visual Basic. Do I use Glade or something?. I really want something suitable for a beginner but also something that can write pretty decent apps and comes with a built-in compiler, etc. What would you all recommend and where could I get it?. Thank's!

For GNOME, you could use GB (which is GNOME Basic, it would be good for transition - http://www.gnome.org/projects/gb/), GLADE or any of the dev tools at http://www.gnome.org/projects/devtools/ ----- Note: If this answer resolves your problem, please remember to close this incident.
