-   Hi,
I am a definite Linux Newbie.
Have just finished installing 8.2 and have noticed it does not seem to have detected my Firewire card.
Everything else worked first time.
Any ideas on things I should look for?

-   First, see if it is supported:

-   The brand name is Swann for the Firewire card which I can not see on the list of supported hardware.
I will open up the computer and see if I can get any details off the card itself.

-   Should be no need to open it up. As root, at a console, type:

# lspci
# lspcidrake

http://linux1394.sourceforge.net/view_device.php?id=351
Refers to a driver called ohci1394

Is it possible this is not included with Madrake 8.2 or is not being loaded?
