- Hello,
Why when I type the following:
dd if=/dev/cdrom of=file.iso
I get this message?:
dd: reading `/dev/cdrom': Input/output error
0 0 records in
0 0 records out
I can still mount the cd and do what ever I want. i can even use the cp command but I cannot create and image. The cd does as if it was going to work but it only spins for a sec or two and then stops.
Also, what is the "halt" option that instead of shutting down the system re-starts it?
Thanks,
Jurgen

- Try the following:
# mount /mnt/cdrom
# dd if=/mnt/cdrom of=file.iso
And the command is 'restart' or 'shutdown -r now'
