Info on encrypted file system

One interesting feature is the encrypted file system, but I could not find anything about it on the website. Can anyone give me more info about it? I would be running this on a laptop, so I want it to be secure in case it gets stolen (which has happened to others near me). Thanks, Paul Rensing
