-   I changed ny security level to high and my passwords expired - I noticed it because I could not su - fortunatley I found a way to modify the root password - but then I stupidly rebooted. When my machine starts it goes to the KDE login - where I cannot use root
Can I boot just to a root console?
Is there a windows program that gets me to my machine (I have locked Telnet, but is there an SSH?

-   Press 'CTRL-ALT-F3' to switch to a console, and login as root, then change your
user password (passwd username). If that does not work, you can reboot
(CTRL-ALT-DEL) and when the LILO splash screen comes up, press 'ESC' then
type 'linux 1' to boot into run-level 1, and you can change your password.

And PuTTY is probably the best Windows SSH client.
