- I've installed the vmware package I have, but it was made for a i386 kernel and I have an i686 kernel. When I try to set ip up with the /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl I get a message saying "none of VMware's prebuit vmmon modules is suitable for your running kernel. Do you want this script to try to build the vmmon module for your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)?" and I answer yes to it and then it asks "What is the location of the directory of C header file that match your running kernel [/usr/src/linux/include]?" I have tryed a few directories and have not had any sucess. Does anyone know where I can find what it is asking for?

- Install the kernel-source and kernel-header files.

- You need to have the kernel sources installed. I386 has nothing to do with
kernel, i386 refers to the architecture it was build, so this means this
package is compatible with all processors above and equal 386. all
Just install the sources and you should be fine. If you don't use the
standard mandrake kernel let me know.
To install the sources, openup softwaremanager and search for kernel, there
will be a package named like kernel-source-2.4.18-6 install this one.

- I installed that package and then tryed the vmware-config.pl, but now I recieve the message, "gcc: installation problem, cannot exec 'cppo': no such file or directory. The directory of kernel headers (version) does not match you running kernel (version 2.4.18-6mdk). Consiquently, even if the compilation of the module was sucessful, the module would not load into the running kernel." I tryed the /usr/src/linux/include directory, /usr/src/linux-2.4.18-6mdk/include directory for the question that I told you about earlier. Any suggestions?

- Okay you don't have the gcc-cpp package installed, just execute the command
as root:
urpmi gcc-cpp
and this error is gone.

- All right, that error is gone, but now I get a list of error that scroll down the screen, and then finally aborts the configuration. I can't remember exactly what they say, I will post again with the exact errors I get. Sorry, I have to connect to the internet through windows, I can get Linux to find my modem, acually it finds it but tells me it can't configure it. But thats going to be a diffrent incident. Anayways I will get back with the error messages I get.
