Linegod_7611 : 08/07/02 03:15 PM : Reply received -   You can either use 'K/Archiving/Compression/Ark' or from a command line 'tar -xvzf packagename.tar.gz'. Both will extract the program into it's own directory. Within that directory should be a 'README' or 'INSTALL' with specific instructions. As a note, however, the majority of software for Linux can be downloaded in RPM format, which will allow you to install/uninstall at your leasure, whereas 'tar.gz' software usually needs to be compiled.
