- When I first install Mandrake linux 8.2, my mouse works fine, during the installation process and all. I have a microsoft intellimouse optical usb. However, after the first session, is over(i.e. once I log out or reboot computer), my mouse inside X windows ceases to work. It won't respond at all, however outside of X windows my mouse works. Any information on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

- You could try disabling 'gpm' to see if that solves your problem.
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/gpm stop
After you turn it off, log out of X and back in, and see if you mouse works.

- Thanks for the tip, however when I tried it, it didn't work. If I reboot the machine I get control of my mouse back and it works for the first session of X windows. Once I log out of this X session, my mouse no longer works. I've tried this with a ps/2 logitech mouseman also and it does the same thing. Any other hints would be greatly appreaciated.

- Could you try using 'drakxservices' to disable 'gpm' if you haven't done so
already.
