- I have an SGS-Thomson USB 56K modem on a system with Mandrake 8.0.
HradDrake recognises the modem but the control centre configuration attempts always fail to connect,
Do I need to (re)install the driver, not use PAP or is the modem just incompatible with the OS?
Thanks very much
Claire

- From http://808hi.com/56k/smartlink.htm
'All Smartlink chipsets are controllerless without DSP - the PC (or in some
cases, the sound sub-system) handle all the signal processing.'
The short of it is, I don't believe you will able to get this working in
Linux. You might try http://linmodems.org
