- My machine dual boots between Mandrake and Win2K. I use a wacom graphics tablet for artwork under windows. This has never worked under Linux as i have never bothered to install a driver available from Wacom as I tend to use photoshop etc over the GIMP for artwork.
However the other day I decided to use the gimp to quickly re touch some graphics wile i was working with linux on the HTML to go with the graphics.
I was idly clicking around in the GIMP and opened up its menus on using tablets... Out of curiosity I picked up my stylus and it was working! Everythings fines with it, pressure sensitivity, angle etc.
Then to make things very freaky when I shut down the GIMP the tablet continued to work afterwards!
This really is not a support question as things work but could someone please explain to my why they work like this. :/

- The GIMP includes it's own interface references for tablets, scanners, etc, and are
most likely more up to date than the core drivers, as they would be a higher priority
for The GIMP.
If you follow the submission directions in harddrake for unknown hardware, and
attach your scenario to it, it may get updated in the main distro.
