-   What are the implications of installing the KDE 3.0 mandrake packages? will it erase your KDE 2.0 configuration? do you get the users with kde 2.2 assigned to automatically use KDE 3.0? will the KDE 2.2 applications keep running?

-   At this point, KDE 3.0 does not replace 2.2, it can run alongside 2.2

It writes the information to .kde3 instead of .kde, but the conversion process is not perfect, so you may need to reset some data (kmail,
konqueror, etc).

Users can choose between KDE 3.0 or KDE 2.2, with 2.2 still being the default.

KDE 2.2 apps will still run, but usually have to be directly referenced (ie: /usr/bin/kmail )
