-   What are the proper steps to generating, install, and using an SSH1 key that does not require me to enter a password, even though I have one?

How do I get my password into the private key, without being prompted for it when I use the key?

-   Follow the directions at http://www.puddingonline.com/~dave/publications/SSH-with-Keys-HOWTO/

It's fairly straight forward.

tgraupmann : 26/02/02 04:35 PM : More info provided
-   Creating the keys with ssh-keygen is straight forward. (on the local server)
Copying the public key to ~/.ssh/authorized_keys is straight forward. (on the remote server).
Adding the key to memory using eval $(ssh-agent)
Followed by ssh-add is straight forward. (on the local server).

Making the proper changes to /etc/ssh/ssh_config and /etc/ssh/ssshd_config is highly specific to Linux Mandrake is therefore not entirely staightforward.

If Mandrake could supply its version of these two files to support protocols 1,2 then the setup could be entirely straight forward.

Thanks. Incident closed.
