-   Hello,
I'm trying to connect my Sony Clie (PEG-S300) to my computer running Mandrake 8.1, kernel 2.4.8-34.1mdksmp. Unable to sync w/ the included programs (kpilot, etc), and I've heard Sony did something funky with the USB interface. Would it work better with a serial cradle?

-   it wouldn't surprise me that sony would do something like that, they like
things to be prepriatary(sp?).

I use serial to connect with my Palm device, and it was real easy to set up(
once i learned how that is).

as root
ln /dev/ttyS* (0 or 1 depending on which serial port you use) /dev/pilot
chmod 666 /dev/pilot

and that should do it. If you can find the device that is your USB cradle is
called you could try the same link(the ln command) and things could work
fine, but that is pure theory!!!

Good luck,
bryce
