-   Hi,

Does Mandrake 8.1 have Software RAID built in, and if so, what software would I use to configure it?

Thanks,

Morph42

-   Yes, Software RAID is supported, even during install. The easiest way is to
setup the Software RAID partitions during install. At the step of
partitioning, just select "Linux RAID" as the type of partition, then in the
next step you will be able to choose which type of RAID you want (Linear,
RAID1, RAID2 or RAID5). Then you may select mount points for partitions.
Beware, not all RAID types are suitable to use as a Root ("/") partition, and
you should at least use a separate /boot partition. Generally speaking, it's
advisable to use RAID for /usr and possibly /var.
