jldmandrake : 30/10/01 12:53 AM : Incident created |
- Version 8.0 worked with the ne2000 driver, but that fails under
8.1 How do I go about getting the driver working under
8.1? Net card is a generic ISA NE2000 type.

- Are you getting an error message, or the card just not being initialized?

- It does not auto-detect the card, so I have to select it manually.
When I select the driver during installation, it comes back with a
message box saying the driver failed to load.

- It's PNP, no jumpers - onboard registers.

- So,
Try "pnpdump > /etc/isapnp.conf".
Edit /etc/isapnp.conf, and specifiy the good parameters (DMA, IRQ, IO...) by
using the same values as windows...
then use "isapnp /etc/isapnp.conf". This will initialize your PnP parameters
on the card and it should now be configured with mandrake.
Logically, when isapnp.conf is created, Mandrake will start isapnp at
startup, before initializing your NIC, and all should work fine...

- Normally, the "ne" driver always needs the "io=0xNNN" parameter to indicate
the location of I/O memory (for ISA cards).
