Dewald_de_Lange_4103 : 07/07/08 01:36 PM : Incident created
-   When I run "mount /dev/sda1 /media/USB_HD in Konsole as root,
I can access the external hard drive as root, but not as user.
Also don't have permission in root to write to hard drive.

-   Solved problem without feedback from Mandriva (useless). I don't know which
of the following changes made the difference:

(1) Plugged the external USB hard drive into a Windows computer, and removed
all the Read-only file attributes. Also gave all permissions to user.

(2) Plugged hard drive back into Linux computer. Executed as root in Konsole:
"mount /dev/sda1 /media/USB_HD

(3) Tried to change permissions for directory /media/USB_HD as root, but failed.

(4) In Configure Your Computer -> Security, changed security level to standard.

(5) In Configure Your Computer -> Tune Permissions On System, added /media/
with Read, Write and Execute permission to User, Group and Other (the
permissions of the other directories can't be changed, because the OK entry
is not available)

(6) Rebooted computer.
